Ingredients

1 lb (450 g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

3 cups broccoli florets

2 tbsp vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
For the Sauce

½ cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 tbsp oyster sauce
-
1 tbsp brown sugar or honey

1 tbsp cornstarch (plus 1 tbsp for coating beef)

½ cup beef broth or water

1 tsp sesame oil
-
¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions

Prepare the beef
Toss sliced beef with 1 tablespoon cornstarch and set aside. -
Blanch the broccoli
Cook broccoli florets in boiling water for 1–2 minutes until bright green. Drain and set aside. -
Make the sauce
In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, broth, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. -
Cook the beef
Heat oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Sear beef for 2–3 minutes until browned, then remove from the pan. -
Stir-fry
Add garlic and ginger to the pan, sauté for 30 seconds. Return beef and broccoli, then pour in the sauce. Stir until the sauce thickens and coats everything evenly. -
Serve
Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
